Dr. Konowitz earned her B.S. in Psychology and Political Science from Bucknell University and her Master's and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Boston College.
She completed her predoctoral internship at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School, where she worked with individuals and families experiencing acute mental health concerns and systemic barriers to care.
She completed her postdoctoral training at Boston Child Study Center, providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to adolescents and young adults with complex trauma, major depressive disorder, suicidal behaviors, and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI).
Throughout her graduate training, she gained experience across private practice, hospitals, schools, college counseling centers, and community mental health settings, including Chelmsford Public Schools, Bentley University Counseling Center, McLean Hospital, and Butler Hospital's Adolescent Inpatient Unit.
Specialized training and certifications
Dr. Konowitz has completed specialized training and holds certifications in the following evidence-based interventions:
- Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)
- Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)
Research
Dr. Konowitz's research focuses on adolescent purpose development and positive youth development. Her dissertation examined how adolescent girls from marginalized backgrounds developed and maintained a sense of purpose despite significant adversity. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters on adolescent development and purpose.
